After a brilliant start at the 2010 Nurburgring race our Audi RS4 returned home on the back of the tow truck. The Audi had a brilliant start to the race and with Andy Booth at the wheel, was managing to complete laps on average, 18 seconds faster than last year.

At 3AM Sunday morning, Alistair Taylor got caught up in an unfortunate touch with a BMW at Schwedenkreuz. A very fast part of the track which has claimed more lives on The Ring than any other part of the track. The forest surrounding the area is dotted with memorials and plaques for people who have lost their lives on the 7m wide stretch. Fortunately, Ali's luck was on his side, and he managed to escape unscathed, although the Audi was less so.

Victory for Kiwi Team Nurburgring in 2010

The 2 Honda Civic Type R's of Kiwi Team Nurburgring had what was possibly the best 24 hour race of our 5 year history at the Ring. Starting a 2 places apart on the starting grid yesterday, the Honda's kept together for the entire race being apart the longest about 2 minutes, the closest 3 seconds. The Norwegian Honda Civic Type R which started many spots ahead was driven very well from the start of the race and commanded a good lead over the field. Mechanical problems however forced the Norwegians to the pits for long enough for the kiwis to sneak passed them to the lead. The Norwegians battled hard and proved to be about 15 seconds faster than KTN Honda's in the final few laps, but with Brian McGovern at the wheel there was no sign of letting up from Kiwi Team Nurburgring, and we crossed 1st and 2nd in the N2 class.

Final Result:

Car 244 Brian Mc Govern, Mathew Noonan, Nick Chester, Greg Spark 83rd position overall, 1st in N2 class. Fastest lap 10:52.253
Car 243 Rod Hicks, David Glasson, Peter Milliner, Mark Corbett 84th overall, 2nd in N2 class. Fastest lap 10:59.547

End of the race down to the wire for the Civic's

May 16th, 2010

We have a race on our hands now! The 2 Honda Civics are tied up in a royal battle for the top three positions in the class. We have held position 1 and 2 for almost 12 hours now after taking the top 2 positions for the leading Norwegian team. The Norwegians suffered engine trouble early in the evening last night and we were in a position to pounce and knock them back to third. Across the night however, the Norwegians have been constantly between 10 and 15 seconds per lap quicker and are slowly gaining and gaining. This race is going to come down to the final minutes for 1st place.
